"This is a very good zine from Santa Cruz that covers skate, snow, surf and music. It's a full 8.5 by 11 inches big on nice high quality paper. Good writing, photos and layouts. You can tell these guys practice what they preach. Issue 1 has articles on Derby, Rev. Horton Heat, 10 Things You Should Never Say After Getting a Concussion, Top 10 Places To Find the Lowest Common Denominator People (#5 Auto Races), Kirkwood, Mike Watt and lorts more."

The name says it all with this zine. Concussion has it all: skating, surfing, rollerblader jokes, head trauma and raw attitude. It starts off with an article on Derby Skatepark in Santa Cruz that lays down the law in regards to etiquette, goes into some photos of skating and surfing (ah sweet Steamer's Lane), and then goes into a couple funny band interviews (rev. Horton Heat, Mike Watt, Kyuss). Good stuff! There's also a section entitled "Concussion" with stills and sequences of some painful looking friggin' bails. Following this is more surfing, some music reviews and two awesome tales of traveling and woe. The first is "Shakedown at K-Town" in with the author and friends discover just how much the cops in Kirkwood value tourism. The second article is "NOFX vs Isla Vista: The Longest Line" which is about going down to UC Santa Barbara to see afree NOFX show and winding up hating college kids. Good stuff!
